Overseas Recruitment & Visa Application Procedures

Type of Admission

  • Freshman Admission at undergraduate level()
  • 3rd Year Transfer Admission()

To gain admission in third year to Pusan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS), the prospective candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • MUST have a certain level of the Korean language proficiency
  • Completed at least 4 semesters, or 2 academic years at other accredited colleges and universities
  • MUST meet other assessment criteria set forth by BUFS
  • STEP 01

    Students MUST Submit the following documents to Pusan University of Foreign Studies

    • Form X-2 (Application of Admission)
    • Official High School Graduation Certificate
    • High School Academic Transcript
    • A Bank Statement in English verifying availability of at least US$10,000
    • A Copy of Family Register of the Would-be 2+2 students
    • Birth Certificate
      (indicating the name of the student and his/her parents)
    • Study Plan
    • Letter of Recommendation, or Reference issued by student’s guidance counselor
    • Verification of Enrollment.
      (if you are currently enrolled at an educational institution)
    • 1st and 2nd Year Col1ege Academic Transcript
      (Only Applicable to Candidates seeking Junior Transfer Admission to BUFS)

      *Special Note: As a part of admission requirement, all freshmen at BUFS must purchase insurance policy on arrival to guard against accidents and possible illness.

    • A Copy of Bank Account opened under student’s name in case of tuition and other fees refundable to students due to rejection of student’s entry visa.
    • A Copy of Passport
  • STEP 02

    SELECTION of STUDENTS

    Preliminary Candidate Screening Procedure for qualified students through one-on-one overseas interview or the reviewal of documents submitted by the applicants. BUFS will review the submitted documents and announce the result of preliminary screening.

    For the Applicants who passed the interview and preliminary screening.

    Special Notice: Once a remittance is made, please FAX (82-51-640-3638), or email us the details of the transfer transaction including name of remitter, date of transaction, bank name, and amount transferred, etc.

    IMPORTANT: Remitter’s Name should CORRESPOND with the student’s name.

    As soon as the tuition and other fees are credited to our account by the prospective student, BUFS will send the documentations listed in Step 5 <STEP 5 Documents> directly to the student, or his/her guardian.

    NOTICE OF OFFICIAL ADMISSION / THE ISSUANCE OF “FORM X-1 & LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE

    • Form X-1 (Certificate of Admission)
    • Official Acceptance Letter issued by Pusan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS)

    The students are to submit the “Form X-1” along with other documents when applying for their visas.

    BUFS will issue the “Certificate of Admission (Form X-1)” to the qualified applicants. “The issuance of the Certificate of Admission”, or otherwise referred to as the “Form X-1” reflects that the student has been officially granted ADMISSION to Pusan University of Foreign Studies.

    The students are to submit the “Form X-1” along with other documents when applying for their visas. In some cases, depending upon the place of student’s visa application, BUFS will return some of the documents received from the applicant in STEP 1.

    Step 5 Documents : Form X-1(Certificate of Admission),Official Acceptance Letter issued by Pusan University of Foreign Studies(BUFS)

  • STEP 06

    Documents

    • Verification of Enrollment issued by the school (If you are presently enrolled at an educational institution.)
    • Graduation Certificates or diploma, e.g., official high school graduation certificate, or two-year junior college, etc. depending upon your education background.
    • Official High School Academic Transcripts
    • Bank Statement in English verifying availability of at least US$10,000
      (A bank statement opened under student’s name, or a financial backer that shows at least $US10,000 in balance. If a bank account is opened under financial guardian’s name, the name of the student’s financial guardian should be appear in the family register, verifying the relationship between the student and the financial guardian. The best way is to open a bank account is under student’s name.)
    • A Copy of Family Register
    • Birth Certificate (indicating the name of the student and his/her parents)
    • Study Plan in English or in Korean (one page or less)
    • Letter of Recommendation, or Reference issued by student’s guidance counselor (If currently enrolled at a college)
    • Verification of Enrollment (if you are currently enrolled at an educational institution)
    • 1st and 2nd Year Col1ege Academic Transcript (Only Applicable to Candidates seeking Junior Year Transfer Admission to BUFS)
    • A Copy of Bank Account opened under student’s name in case of tuition and other fees refundable to students due to rejection of student’s entry visa.
    • A Copy of Passport

    Special Note: Once the prospective students have their visa issued at the Korean Consulate or Embassy overseas, the original documents in Step 1 (Step 1 Documents) must also be submitted by the students to Pusan University of Foreign Studies without delay.

    pecial Note: Please note that each of the above documentations requires official seal of the relevant office and the translated English version must be attached to the original document.

    Special Note: Student’s full name should correspond with that on the passport.

    Special Note: If you are transferring into 3rd year undergraduate program, please indicate the total number of semesters attended at your university as well as the total number of credits earned. For instance if he/she will be completing his/her 4th Semester, indicate as “4”.

  • STEP 07

    For the Applicants who passed the interview and preliminary screening

    If you have applied for your visa at the Korean Consulate or Embassy Overseas, please inform us without delay,?when the visa has been issued. Also, if you have booked a flight, let us know your expected arrival date and time in Busan. We need to know this information to arrange a vehicle to pick up your students at the airport. Please reserve your flight schedule during the weekdays due to our vehicle availability.
